Arámbarri (y Garate), Jesús
Arámbarri (y Garate), Jesús, Spanish conductor, pedagogue, and composer; b. Bilbao, April 13, 1902; d. Madrid, July 11, 1960. After graduating from the Cons. Vizcaino de Música in Bilbao (1928), he went to Paris and studied composition with Le Flem and Dukas, and conducting with Golschmann. He completed his training in conducting with Weingartner in Basel (1932). In 1933 he returned to Bilbao as conductor of the municipal orch. In 1953 he went to Madrid as conductor of the concert orch. and as a prof. at the Cons. Among his works were vocal pieces, chamber music, and piano works.
