Prisoner of Honor
Prisoner of Honor ★★★ 1991 (PG)
A cable retelling of notorious Dreyfus Affair, in which a Jewish officer in the 19thcentury French military was accused of treason based on little evidence and lots of bigotry. George Piquart (Dreyfuss), the antisemitic counterintelligence head, grows to realize Dreyfuss's innocence and fights zealously for the truth. Russell's flamboyant direction takes the heroic tale into the realm of the surreal; this may not be a thoroughly accurate account, but it's one of the more eyefilling. 90m/C VHS, DVD . Richard Dreyfuss, Oliver Reed, Peter Firth, Jeremy Kemp, Brian Blessed, Peter Vaughan, Kenneth Colley, Lindsay Anderson; D: Ken Russell. CABLE
