Nerolio
Nerolio ★★ 1996
Three imagined episodes depicting the final months of an unnamed poet/director (Cavicchioli), who is actually based on homosexual writer/filmmaker Pier Paolo Pasolini. The contradictory, hypocritical, aging Poet is shown buying sex, while extolling the virtues of male beauty in voiceover, and as the maker of his own doom (Pasolini was murdered in 1975). “Nerolio” is a contraction of “nero” (black) and “Petrolio” (oil), which refers to Pasolini's posthumous novel “Petrolio.” Italian with subtitles. 82m/B VHS, DVD . IT Marco Cavicchioli, Vincenzo Crivello, Salvatore Lazzaro; D: Aurelio Grimaldi; W: Aurelio Grimaldi; C: Maurizio Calvesi; M: Maria Soldatini.
