Neruda, Wilma [ Wilhelmina Neruda] (b Brno, 1839; d Berlin, 1911). Bohem. violinist. Début Vienna 1846. Toured Ger. as prodigy; London début 1849. Many tours of Europe and Russia. Married the Swed. composer Norman 1864, playing under name Norman-Neruda. Regular visitor to Eng. after 1869. In 1888 married Sir Charles Hallé with whom she gave many recitals, touring S. Africa and Australia. Retired 1895 when Hallé died, but resumed playing 1898, touring USA 1899. Lived in Berlin from 1900.
