Finnish Nordic skier . Born around 1966.
Marjo Matikainen collapsed at the finish line after winning the Olympic gold medal in the 5k Nordic skiing event at Calgary in 1988 with a time of 15:04.0. Tamara Tikhonova of Russia placed second; Vida Vencienè of Lithuania placed third. The following year, Matikainen retired from competitive skiing to study engineering. She was 23.
