Busoni, Anna (1833–1909)
Italian pianist. Born Anna Weiss in Trieste in 1833; died in 1909; married Ferdinando Busoni (a clarinettist); children: Feruccio Benvenuto Busoni (1866–1924).
Anna Busoni showed musical talent at an early age and made her debut as a soloist at 14. Married to Ferdinando Busoni, a clarinettist of limited talent, she gave lessons to their son Feruccio Benvenuto Busoni, a prodigy who gave his first concert at age seven. By the time Feruccio was 12, he and his mother were performing duet recitals in public. In later years, she concentrated on teaching.
