Bussarli, Dorothea
Bussarli, Dorothea, Austrian soprano; b. Vienna, 1763; d. after 1810. In 1786 she married the Italian bass Francesco Bussani. She created the roles of Cherubino in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro (Vienna, May 1, 1786) and Despina in his Così fan tutte (Vienna, Jan. 26, 1790), opposite her husband’s roles as Bartolo and Antonio. She made appearances in Italy with her husband between 1795 and 1805; subsequently appeared in Lisbon and London until she disappeared from the scene in 1810.
