New Zealand missionary and letter writer. Name variations: Marianne Coldham. Born Marianne Coldham, Dec 12, 1793, in Yorkshire, England; died Dec 16, 1879, at Pakaraka, New Zealand; dau. of Wright Coldham and Ann (Temple) Coldham; children: 3.
With sister-in-law Jane Williams, helped to establish boarding school for young Maori women, and the 1st English girls' school for daughters of other missionaries; through numerous letters, was among 1st women to record daily interaction among the Maori.
