Italian-English actress. Born Giovanna Sgoglio, Mar 3, 1934, in Liverpool, England; died, age 38, from accidental overdose of drugs and alcohol, April 30, 1972, in Hollywood, CA; sister of Tina Scala (actress); studied with Stella Adler; m. Donald Burnett (actor), 1957 (div. 1970).
Raised in Rome from age 3 on; moved with family to NY, age 16 (1951); films include All That Heaven Allows, Never Say Goodbye, Four Girls in Town, Garment Jungle, Don't Go Near the Water, Two-Headed Spy, Battle of the Coral Sea and Guns of Navarone.
