After 37-year stage and screen career, achieved prominence for her performance as Momma in Throw Momma from the Train and was nominated for an Academy Award (1988); other films include The Sporting Club, Up the Sandbox, For Pete's Sake, The New Centurions, National Lampoon's Class Reunion, The Goonies, Scrooged and Any Which Way You Can.
