Born Mathilde Marie Christine Ghislaine d'Udekem d'Acoz, Jan 20, 1973, in Ukkel, Belgium; oldest of 5 children of Count Patrick d'Udekem d'Acoz and Countess Anne Marie Komorowski; m. Crown Prince Philippe of Belgium (b. 1960), Dec 4, 1999; children: Elisabeth (b. 2001).

Popular princess, spent her childhood at the castle of Losange, Vilers-la-Bonne-Eau in Flemish Bastenaken; was a speech therapist working with autistic children before marrying into the royal family.
