Gregor, Nora (1901–1949)

Austrian stage and screen actress. Born Eleonora Hermina Gregor, Feb 3, 1901, in Görz, Istrien, Austria-Hungary (now Gorizia, Italy); died Jan 20, 1949, in Santiago, Chile; m. Mitja Nikish; m. Prince Ernst Ruediger von Starhemberg (political figure); children: Prince Heinrich Starhemberg (1934–1997, producer, director, and actor).

Made stage debut in Graz, Austria, then appeared at the Volksbühne an das Raimund Theater and the Burgtheater, both in Vienna, and with Max Reinhardt in Berlin; made silent film debut in The Schauspielerin des Kaisers (1921) and 1st talkie in the title role in Olympia (1930); after the annexation of Austria by the Nazis (1938), immigrated with family to Switzerland, then Chile.
