Canadian runner. Born Sept 1963 in Manitoba, Canada; dau. of a Scottish father and Sioux mother.
At Commonwealth Games (1990), was the 1st woman in the history of the Games to win both the 1,500- and 3,000-meter races; at Barcelona Olympics, won a bronze medal in 3,000 meters (1992); was the flag-bearer at the Commonwealth Games (1994); won a gold medal at Grand Prix for 1,500 meters (1994). Received National Aboriginal Achievement Award in Sports (1995)
