Focused on the tension between the French and Creole language and culture and called for recognition of Creole; worked with Bwadoubout Centre Project to promote teaching in Creole; writings include La langue créole, force jugulée (1976), Le défi culturel Gaudeloupéen (1989) and (novel) Léonora (1985).
