Merovingian queen. Name variations: Audovere or Audovère. Fl. in 560s; put to death by orders of Fredegund (c. 547–597) around 580; 1st wife of Chilperic I, king of Soissons (Neustria, r. 561–584); children: daughter Basina (who became a nun at Poitiers) and 3 sons, Chlodovech, also known as Clovis (d. 580); Theudebert, also known as Theodobert (d. 575); Merovech (d. 577 or 578, who m. his aunt, Brunhilda).
Because of machinations of Fredegund, was ordered to a convent with her daughter Basina sometime before 567, then put to death (c. 580).
