Served as secretary-general of the Youth Front (1993–96), president of Youth Action (1996–97), and director of the environmental association, Fare Verde (1985–92); representing Union for Europe of the Nations Group (UEN), elected to 4th and 5th European Parliament (1994–99, 1999–2004). Founded the international voluntary work organization, Movimento Comunità.
