Angel-A ★★ 2005 (R)

Andre (Debbouze), a small-time crook, owes thugs all over Paris and he's at the end of the line. Contemplating a leap from a bridge to end his woes, a gorgeous blonde in a miniskirt beats him to it and leaps first. Of course he saves her. Of course she's his angel (a la “It's a Wonderful Life”) and it's really her mission to save him. The spectacular Angela (Rasmussen) and Andre then traipse around town fixing Andre's mistakes, as well as Andre himself. Shot in black and white, with stunning images of Paris; the film's plot and actors, alas, do not fare as well. 91m/B DVD . FR Jamel Debbouze, Rie Rasmussen, Gilbert Melki, Serge Riaboukine; D: Luc Besson; W: Luc Besson; C: Thierry Arbogast.
