Klaus von Klitzing
Klaus von Klitzing
German physicist who won the 1985 Nobel Prize in physics for his discovery of the quantized Hall effect. This is one of the few examples of quantum behavior that is directly observable and measurable in the laboratory. The quantized Hall effect refers to the property in which changes in the electrical resistance of a metal plate, cooled to near absolute zero and suspended in a magnetic field, changes in discrete steps rather than continuously.
