Zamiaceae A family of gymnosperms which forms the bulk of the cycads (Cycadaceae). The pinnules are straight in vernation and the male and female sporophylls are in determinate cones, the female being scale-like with a thickened base, usually with 2 ovules. There are 8 genera, with 85 species, distributed in tropical and temperate Australia, America, and Africa.
