Zamboni, Luigi

Zamboni, Luigi, noted Italian bass; b. Bologna, 1767; d. Florence, Feb. 28, 1837. He made his debut in 1791 in Ravenna in Fanatico in Berlina by Cimarosa, then sang throughout Italy, establishing himself as one of the finest interpreters of buffo roles of his time; 1816 he created the role of Figaro in Rossini’s II Barbiere di Siviglia. He retired from the stage in 1825.
