Sparassis
Sparassis (family Sparassidaceae, order Aphyllophorales) A genus of fungi in which the hymenium is borne on the underside of 1 or more flattened, petal-like lobes. S. crispa (brain fungus, cauliflower fungus) forms fruit bodies that are large (20–50 cm across), pale yellow or buff, and densely branched with numerous flattened, crinkled lobes. It is found at the base of conifer trees or tree stumps.
