Dictyoceratida (class Demospongiae, subclass Ceractinomorpha) An order of sponges which have no spicules. The skeleton is composed entirely of organic fibres, which may enclose detritus. A tough dermis is present. The fibre structure is quite complex. The order includes the commercial sponges used by humans.
