ctenidial axis
ctenidial axis The junction of an inner and outer demibranch in molluscan demibranchiate gills. Two V-shaped demibranchs are joined to form a W-shaped gill. Gills of other shapes that are symmetrical about an axis may also be said to have a ctenidial axis.
