KEFAR BIALIK

KEFAR BIALIK (Heb. כְּפַר כְּיַאלִיק), moshav in Haifa Bay, Israel, affiliated to Ha-Iḥud ha-Ḥakla'i, and founded in 1934 by immigrants from Germany who were later joined by settlers of different origin. Kefar Bialik, separate from the nearby Kiryat Bialik suburb, preserved its agricultural character and moshav form. Nevertheless, in the late 1960s housing estates were built within its confines. Kefar Bialik, named after the poet Ḥ.N. *Bialik, had 610 inhabitants in 1968. The population maintained its size through the-mid-1990s and rose to 768 in 2002.
