Thanawīya

Thanawīya (Arab., thanā, ‘reiterate, double’). Dualism, suspect in Islam because of its necessary shirk (association of anything as equal with God). Thanawīya was linked by Muslims with Mānī (Manichaeism), Mazdak (Zoroastrianism), and ibn Daiṣān. The threat arose with the conquest of Persia.
