Promoters Harcourt (Menjou) and Bates (Oakie) set up a radio contest to find the average American to use in their ads. The contest is won by grocery clerk Henry Smith (Haley) who is promptly put to work as a spokesman. Henry falls for small-town Madge (Whelan), who upsets everybody's plans when she realizes that Henry is being exploited. 70m/B VHS .
