An Shih-kao

An Shih-kao (2nd cent. CE). Buddhist monk, converted when crown prince in Parthia, who went to China and undertook and organized the first translations of Buddhist texts into Chinese. Since they were mainly concerned with dhyāna, he became the founder of the Dhyāna School of Buddhism.
