Nan-yüeh Huai-jang

Nan-yüeh Huai-jang (Jap., Nangaku Ejō; 677–744). Chʾan/Zen master, pupil and dharma-successor (hassu) of Hui-neng. From him, the second main lineage of the Chʾan tradition in China developed, and he remains best-known as the teacher of Ma-tsu Tao-i.
