Namu
Namu (Jap., ‘praise’). Adoration and homage in Japanese Buddhism, hence equivalent to, ‘I take refuge in’ (see THREE JEWELS). It is therefore found in many combinations, e.g. the nembutsu, namu-Butsu, namu-Kanzeon, namu-Miroku, etc.
