Kalyāṇa-mitta
Kalyāṇa-mitta (Pāli, ‘good friend’, ‘wise companion’; Skt., kalyāṇa-mitra). Teacher or mentor in Theravāda Buddhism; one who advises and instructs in the choice and use of a meditation subject (kammaṭṭhāna). The Buddha is regarded as the paradigmatic kalyāṇamitta.
