Gampopa or sGam-po-pa (also known as Nyame Dagpo Lharje; 1079–1153). Tibetan monk and teacher, who drew on the Kagyüpa and Kadampa schools in establishing Dagpo Kagyu, and in the lamrim work, The Jewel Ornament of Liberation. He held that the buddha-nature (tathāgatha, buddhatā, bussho), or at least the capacity to become a buddha is present in every sentient being, but that the human appearance forms the best base for this advance.
