Umeälv
Umeälv (ü´mə ĕlv), river, c.285 mi (460 km) long, rising in N Sweden in a lake on the Norwegian border. It flows SE through Storuman and Overuman lakes to the Gulf of Bothnia at Umeå. The Vindelälven (c.280 mi/450 km long) is its chief tributary. There is a large hydroelectric power station at Stornorrfors.
