Godfrey of Viterbo

Godfrey of Viterbo (vētĕr´bō), 12th cent., German or Italian priest. He was long attached to the courts of Holy Roman emperors Conrad III, Frederick I, and Henry VI in Italy. His Gesta Friderici is a contemporary account of Frederick, and his Pantheon, a universal history, freely mixes fact with legend.
