MUHAJIRUN, AL-

Saudi Islamist movement ("Exiles" or "Migrants," in Arabic) started in 1983 by Shaykh Umar Bakri Muhammad. Based in London, this organization is affiliated with the International Islamic Front (IIF), partially financed by Osama Bin Ladin. Its name is a reference to the early Muslim community that followed the prophet Muhammad into exile at Medina.
