Beaumont, Sir Francis (1584–1616) English dramatist closely associated with John Fletcher. Between 1607 and 1613 they produced at least ten plays, including Philaster, The Maid's Tragedy and A King and No King. Beaumont is usually credited with sole authorship of two plays, The Woman Hater (1607) and The Knight of the Burning Pestle (c.1607).
