Italian Language Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial support for education of the US citizens of Italian descent. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be US citizens of Italian descent (at least one Italian or Italian American grandparent) their junior or senior year of undergraduate study for the Fall of 2008 term, majoring or minoring in Italian language studies at an accredited academic institution. Criteria: SIF scholarship recipients are not eligible.

Funds Avail.: $5,000 to $25,000. To Apply: Applicants must submit cover sheet; official transcript; test scores; resume outlining extracurricular activities, work, experience, volunteer service and honors, especially as they relate to Italian language, culture and heritage; letters of recommendation; type-written original essay of 500-700 words in Italian on why learning Italian is important in today's world and plan of how to use the language degree; and the processing fee. Deadline: February 28.

Order Sons of Italy Foundation General Scholarships (Graduate, Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial support for the education of eligible individuals for the scholarship. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be U.S. citizens of Italian descent enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at a four-year, accredited academic institution for the Fall 2008 term. Criteria: Recipient of the NELA scholarship must be in a matriculated program of study either on the undergraduate or graduate level.

Funds Avail.: $5,000 to $25,000. To Apply: Applicants must submit cover sheet, official transcript, test scores, resume, letters of recommendation, essay, and the processing fee. Deadline: February 28.

Henry Salvatori Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial support to college bound high school senior demonstrating exceptional leadership, deep understanding and respect for the principles of the nation - liberty, freedom and equality. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be U.S. citizens of Italian descent in their senior year of high school and planning to attend a four-year, accredited institution for the Fall 2008 term. Criteria: Previous SIF scholarship recipients are not eligible.

Funds Avail.: $5,000 to $25,000. To Apply: Applicants must submit cover sheet, official transcript, test scores, resume, two letters of recommendation from public figures whose careers have demonstrated a commitment to the principles the scholarship embodies, type-written original essay of 750-1,000 words concerning the declaration of independence, the constitution and the bill of rights - discussion of the relevance of these documents to the principles of liberty, freedom and equality in the United States and the processing fee. Deadline: February 28.
