NSA Scholarship Program (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide educational assistance to employees of a sheriff’s office or their dependents. Focus: Criminal justice; Law. Qualif.: Applicant must be applying or enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate college program majoring in a criminal justice-related subject area; must be employed by a sheriff’s office or a dependent of an individual employed by a sheriff’s office; and must not be a previous recipient of the NSA scholarship. Criteria: Scholarship is granted to applicants with complete requirements as reviewed by the NSA Awards and Scholarship Committee.

Funds Avail.: $1,000. To Apply: Applicants must provide a completed Official NSA scholarship application form available at the website; a transcript from high school or college (if already attending college); two letters of recommendation (one must be from a principal, teacher, guidance counselor, or advisor); endorsement letter from the sheriff of applicant’s county; statement of financial need; and an essay (minimum of 150 words) about the applicant’s intents in pursuing a career in law enforcement. Required materials must be photocopied and forwarded to the NSA Awards and Scholarship Committee while the application form must be mailed to: Hilary Burgess, National Sheriff’s Association 1450 Duke St. Alexandria, VA 22314, Attn: NSA Scholarship Program. Deadline: April 1.
