Bob Baxter Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To improve and facilitate the administration of press photography. To promote the study of press photography and research therein, and to continue the education of press photographers. Focus: Photography. Qualif.: Applicants must be full-time students at a school in the United States and intend to pursue a career in photojournalism. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on academic standing and financial need.

Funds Avail.: $1,000. To Apply: Applicants must submit a portfolio; six or more photos; picture editors must send three tearsheets. Video journalists must submit a tape of three short but complete stories. Deadline: March 1. Contact: [email protected]

Reid Blackburn Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To improve and facilitate the administration of press photography. To promote the study of press photography and research therein, and to continue the education of press photographers. Focus: Photography. Qualif.: Applicants must have completed one year at a recognized four-year college or university with courses in photojournalism and must be continuing in a program leading to bachelor’s degree. Applicants must have at least one half year of undergraduate schooling remaining at time of award. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on academic standing and financial need.

Funds Avail.: No specific amount. To Apply: Applicants must submit a portfolio; six or more photos; picture editors must send three tearsheets. Video journalists must submit a tape of three short but complete stories. Applicants must submit an essay stating the philosophy and goals of their work. Deadline: March 1. Bob East Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To improve and facilitate the administration of press photography. To promote the study of press photography and research therein, and to continue the education of press photographers. Focus: Photography. Qualif.: Applicants must either be undergraduates in the first three-and-a-half years of college, or planning to pursue postgraduate work and able to offer some indication of acceptance in such program. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on academic standing, financial need, and quality of the portfolio.

Funds Avail.: $2,000. To Apply: Applicants must submit a five-single-image portfolio; six or more photos. Picture editors must send three tearsheets. Video journalists must submit a tape of three short but complete stories. Deadline: March 1. Contact: 305-376-2015

Kit C. King Graduate Scholarships (Postgraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To improve and facilitate the administration of press photography. To promote the study of press photography and research therein, and to continue the education of press photographers. Focus: Photography. Qualif.: Applicants must be pursuing an advanced degree in journalism with an emphasis in photojournalism. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on the academic standing, financial need, and quality of the portfolio.

Purpose: To improve and facilitate the administration of press photography. To promote the study of press photography and research therein, and to continue the education of press photographers. Focus: Photography. Qualif.: Applicants must be enrolled in a recognized four-year college or university with courses in TV news photojournalism. Applicants must be continuing in a program leading to a bachelor’s degree. Applicants must be in their junior or senior year at the time award is given. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on academic standing, financial need, and quality of the portfolio.

Funds Avail.: $1,000. To Apply: Applicants must submit a portfolio with six or more photos. Picture editors must send three tearsheets. Video journalists must submit a tape of three short but complete stories. Applicants must complete the entry form and submit it along with a videotape containing examples of his or her work. Applicants must include a one-page biographical sketch including a personal statement addressing their professional goals. Deadline: March 1. Contact: [email protected]
