Judson College was founded in 1838. It is accredited by Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. It first offered distance learning courses in 1976. In fall 2003, there were 100 students enrolled in distance learning courses. Institutionally administered financial aid is available to distance learners.

Judson College, located in Marion, Alabama, has provided quality academic programs in an environment supportive of Christian principles for more than 165 years. The College's educational programs have evolved through the years to meet the needs of each new generation. Fully accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Judson offers students the opportunity to work out flexible degree plans leading to complete bachelor's degrees through the Distance Learning Program. Majors include business, criminal justice, education, English, history, music, psychology, and religious studies.

Courses are delivered through a variety of methods, including Internet, e-mail, telephone, video, general mail, and facsimile. Students can take up to 18 semester hours in a six-month enrollment period that can begin at any time.

The Distance Learning Program at Judson offers the unique opportunity to earn a maximum of 30 semester hours of credit based on experiential learning. This learning can be evidenced by submission of a thoroughly documented portfolio, satisfactory performance on institutional administered challenge exams, CLEP exams, and DANTES exams.
