Abraham Lincoln Marovitz Public Interest Law Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)
Purpose: To support a needy law student who is deeply committed to public interest work so that upon graduation financial need will not prevent the student from pursuing a public interest legal career. Focus: Law. Qualif.: Applicants must be students attending one of the nine Illinois law schools (Chicago-Kent College of Law, University of Chicago Law School, DePaul University College of Law, University of Illinois College of Law, John Marshall Law School, Loyola University School of Law, Northern Illinois University Law School, Northwestern University School of Law and Southern Illinois University School of Law). Criteria: Recipients are selected based on committee's review of application materials.
Funds Avail.: $10,000 in the first year. To Apply: Applicants must submit cover letter with attached application form; resume; official transcript from undergraduate institution and graduate institution; two letters of reference about commitment to public interest work; brief essay (no more than three pages, explaining commitment to pursue a career in public interest law). Deadline: April 15.
