Catherine H. Beattie Fellowships (Graduate/Fellowship)

Purpose: To enable a graduate student in biology, horticulture, or a related field to conduct research on a rare or endangered U.S. plant. Focus: Biology, Horticulture. Qualif.: Applicant must be a graduate student in biology or horticulture. Criteria: Preference will be given to students focusing on endangered flora of the Carolinas or the southeastern United States.

Funds Avail.: $1,000-$4,000 and will serve as compensation for work done by a graduate student. To Apply: Applications should be submitted to the Center for Plant Conservation and must include the following: (a) a 2-3 page proposal, which includes a description of the research project, and how it relates to the student's academic and professional development; (b) an itemized budget for the funds requested; (c) a current resume; (d) a letter of endorsement by an academic advisor from the institution where the student is pursuing graduate studies; (e) the names of three additional persons qualified to describe the student's character and ability; (f) official transcripts for both undergraduate and graduate academic records. Deadline: December 31.
