Independent Methodist, comprehensive, coed. Awards bachelor's and master's degrees. Founded 1845. Setting: 100-acre suburban campus with easy access to Cleveland. Endowment: $120.9 million. Research spending 2003-04: $116,163. Educational spending 2003-04: $7759 per student. Total enrollment: 4,600. Faculty: 399 (164 full-time, 235 part-time). Student-undergrad faculty ratio is 16:1. 2,301 applied, 83% were admitted. 29% from top 10% of their high school class, 57% from top quarter, 90% from top half. 24 valedictorians, 23 student government officers. Application fee: $25. Comprehensive fee: $25,912 includes full-time tuition ($19,494) and college room and board ($6418). College room only: $3134. Part-time tuition: $620 per semester hour. Part-time tuition varies according to class time.

Collegiate Environment:

Orientation program. Drama-theater group, choral group, student-run newspaper, radio station. Social organizations: 100 open to all; national fraternities, national sororities; 18% of eligible men and 22% of eligible women are members. Most popular organizations: campus entertainment productions, Student Senate, Dance Marathon, Campus Crusade, Black Student Alliance. Major annual events: April Reign, Homecoming, Bach Festival.
