The AAA (American Automobile Association) Five Diamond Hospitality Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide educational assistance to hospitality management students. Focus: Hotel, institutional, and restaurant management. Qualif.: Applicants must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours for the upcoming Fall and Spring semesters; at least a sophomore at the time of nomination; have a minimum 3.0 GPA; and must be U.S. citizens or permanent U.S. residents. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on academic performance, hospitality

work experience, financial need, extracurricular/professional attributes and honors, as well as personal attributes as defined in their career goal statement.

Funds Avail.: $5,000. To Apply: Applicants must complete all the required sections of the application. Deadline: May 1.

American Express Professional Development Scholarships (Professional Development/Scholarship)

Purpose: To enhance the skills of hospitality professionals. Focus: Hotel, institutional, and restaurant management. Qualif.: Applicants must be working a minimum of 35-hours per week at an AH&LA member hotel and with at least 12-months hotel experience. If applying for a certification, applicant must qualify for the certification program. Criteria: Applicants are selected based on merits, statements and industry-related work experience.

Funds Avail.: $2,000 for full-time enrollment; $1,000 for part-time. To Apply: Applicants must submit an application form and attach the appropriate EI distance learning enrollment form or professional certification form. Deadline: January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1.

The American Express Scholarship Competition (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide educational assistance for current lodging employees and their dependents. Focus: Hotel, institutional, and restaurant management. Qualif.: Applicants must be enrolled full-time or part-time; must be working a minimum of 20-hours per week at an AH & LA member hotel and with at least 12 months hotel experience. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on academic performance, hospitality work experience, financial need, extracurricular/professional attributes and honors, as well as personal attributes as defined in their career goal statement.

Funds Avail.: Baccalaureate Majors - $2,000 full-time enrollment; or $1,000 part-time; Associate Majors - $1,000 full-time enrollment; or $500 part- time. To Apply: Applicants must complete all the required sections of the application. Deadline: May 1.

The Hyatt Hotels Fund For Minority Lodging Management Students (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial aid to minority students pursuing a degree in hotel management. Focus: Hotel, institutional, and restaurant management. Qualif.: Applicant must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours for the upcoming Fall and Spring semesters, or just the Fall semester if graduating this December; at least a sophomore in a four-year program at the time of application; a minority descent: African-American, Hispanic, American Indian, Alaskan Native, Asian or Pacific Islander; a U.S. citizen or permanent U.S. resident. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on academic performance, hospitality work experience, financial need, extracurricular/professional attributes and honors, as well as personal attributes as defined in their career goal statement.

Funds Avail.: $2,000. Number Awarded: 18. To Apply:

The Steve Hymans Extended Stay Scholarship Program (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide educational assistance to hospitality management students. Focus: Hotel, institutional, and restaurant management. Qualif.: Applicant must be enrolled full-time or part-time; have a minimum of 3.0 GPA; be a U.S. citizen or permanent U.S. resident; and have at least some experience either working or interning (paid or unpaid) at a lodging property. Criteria: Applicants with experience at an extended stay property will be given preference.

Funds Avail.: Baccalaureate Majors - $2,000 full-time enrollment; or $1,000 part-time. Associate Majors - $1,000 full-time enrollment; or $500 part-time. To Apply: Applicants must complete all the required sections of the application. Deadline: May 1.

Lodging Management Program (LMP) Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide educational assistance to students pursuing a degree in hospitality-related degree programs. Focus: Hotel, institutional, and restaurant management. Qualif.: Applicants must be graduating high school seniors and have completed Year 1 and 2 of the LMP; must have a minimum 2.0 GPA. Criteria: Awards are given based on merit.

Funds Avail.: $1,000 per scholarship. To Apply: Applications are self nominated which means students do not have to attend a particular school or be nominated by their respective schools. The Arthur J. Packard Memorial Scholarship Competition Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide educational assistance for lodging management students. Focus: Hotel, institutional, and restaurant management. Qualif.: Applicants must be enrolled full-time for the upcoming Fall and Spring semesters; have a minimum GPA of 3.5 or higher; and must be U.S. residents. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on academic performance, hospitality work experience, financial need, extracurricular/professional attributes and honors, as well as personal attributes as defined in their career goal statement.

Funds Avail.: First-place winner $5,000; Second-place $3,000; Third-place $2,000. To Apply: Applicants must complete all the required sections of the application. Deadline: May 1.

Pepsi Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide educational assistance to students pursuing a degree in hospitality-related degree programs. Focus: Hotel, institutional, and restaurant management.

Qualif.: Applicants must be graduates of the Hospitality High School in Washington, D.C.; enrolled in at least 12 credit hours for the upcoming Fall and Spring semesters; worked at least 250 hours in the hotel/hospitality industry; and have a minimum 2.5 GPA. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on academic performance, hospitality work experience, financial need, extracurricular/professional attributes and honors, as well as personal attributes as defined in their career goal statement.

Funds Avail.: $500-$3,000 depending upon enrollment. Funds must be used exclusively for tuition, fees and books. To Apply: Applicants must complete all the required sections of the application. Deadline: May 1.

Criteria: Applicants who are students of Asian-Indian descent and other minority groups, as well as JHM employees and their dependents will be given preference.
