Warren, Edward Prioleau
Warren, Edward Prioleau (1856–1937). English architect. Articled to Bodley and Garner, he later wrote the latter's biography. He designed a number of distinguished buildings, including the Warren Building, Balliol College, Oxford (1906–8). Perhaps his best work is the range of mansion-flats at Hanover Lodge, St John's Wood High Street, London (1903–4). Other designs include 5 Palace Green (1904), Shelley House, Chelsea Embankment (1912), both in London, and the Fishermen's Institute, Newlyn, Cornwall (1911). Among his churches may be mentioned St Martin, Bryanston, Dorset (1895–8—with a stately tower), St Mary, Bishopstoke, Hants. (1890–1—with an iron chancel-screen (1903) by W. Bainbridge Reynolds (1845–1935)), and St Michael and All Angels, Bassett, Southampton (1897–1910-described by Pevsner as ‘intriguing and distinguished’).
