Majewski, Hilary

Majewski, Hilary (1837–92). Polish architect of most of the vast and extraordinary Poznański cotton-factory and housing complex, łódź, Poland (from 1872), in a mixture of Rundbogenstil and Gothic. The entrance-gates had stunted, massive, deformed, vaguely Tuscan columns carrying the pointed arches over which were brick battlements and other decorations.
