Life Savers
Life Savers American; round candies with a hole in the middle. Originally produced in peppermint flavour by Cleveland, Ohio, chocolate manufacturer Clarence Crane in 1913, to sell in summer when chocolate sales declined. Fruit flavours introduced in 1924, originally as a solid disc until machinery could be developed to make rings of the candy.
