Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) (ners-ing) n. a body that superseded the UKCC in April 2002. It combines the functions of the old UKCC and the National Boards (England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland), having a regulatory role for both professional issues and education.
