famotidine (fam-oh-ti-deen) n. an H2-receptor antagonist (see antihistamine) used for the treatment of duodenal ulcers and conditions of excessive gastric acid secretion, such as the Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It is administered by mouth. Trade name: Pepcid.
