Born October 1, 1938, in Muncie, IN; son of Floyd (a teacher and school system supervisor) and Catherine (a homemaker) Raisor; married Juanita Waln (a newspaper editor); children: Staci, Brenton, J. Bradford. Education: Attended University of Kansas, 1956-58; Louisiana State University, B.A., 1960, M.A., 1966; Kent State University, Ph.D., 1973.
