SIDELIGHTS:

Bridget Harrison left behind her London home, a stable job, and a steady boyfriend to pursue a temporary research position at the New YorkPost. It was not long before she fell in love with New York City and made the decision to make the move permanent. During her five years with the Post, Harrison contributed to a number of entertainment features, including a weekly column on dating in New York. Tabloid Love: Looking for Mr. Right in All the Wrong Places: A Memoir is Harrison's first book, a compilation of stories relating her experiences with the New York dating scene. In an interview with Philadelphia Daily News contributor April Lisante, Harrison commented: "I was inspired to write the book because there are so many ‘chick lit’ novels out there which cover all the subjects that we women obsess about— juggling our careers, love lives and the tick-tock of our bodies' clocks, getting too drunk at parties, falling for the wrong guy, etc.—but which are ultimately fiction. I wanted to write a book that documented all those things, but for real."

A contributor to Kirkus Reviews described Tabloid Love as "provocative and charming," further noting: "Harrison's tale has plenty to offer, even for those outside New York." Diane Shipley, a reviewer for Trashionista, called the memoir "a hugely evocative book that gives a fascinating insight into New York life (sometimes horrifying, often funny!)"
